Consignor and Consignee Filing

From October 1, 2012, AQSIQ has been performing filing management on exporters or agents exporting food products in mainland China (Excluding Hong Kong and Macao) and consignees of imported food products in China, to obtain information about importers and exporters of imported food and its sources and flows.

At present, all enterprises engaged in food import should complete consignee and consignor filing before the importing of food.

Chinese Label Verification and Filing

According to article 42 of the Food Safety Law, the packaging of prepackaged food shall be labeled. Imported prepackaged food should have Chinese label, Chinese manual. The labels and instructions shall comply with the requirements of this Law as well as other relevant laws and administrative regulations of our country and the national standards for food safety, and shall state the place of origin of the food as well as the name, address and contact information of the domestic agent. Pre-packaged food without Chinese labels, Chinese instructions or labels, instructions that do not meet the provisions of this article shall not be imported.

Sampling Inspection by CIQ

After food customs clearance, the products need to be sampled and tested and shall be placed in the customs warehouse until the test results come out.
